Chromebooks

Chromebooks:

Chromebooks run the Chrome Operating System. Students log in with the NAPS Google Account and have access to all of their needed educational Apps including Google Classroom, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Additionally, they run any content specific apps such as ST Math, Lexia, Zearn, iXL and Edpuzzle. As an Enterprise level Google Apps for Education (GAFE) district we have unlimited cloud storage on Google Drive and Chromebooks allow for easy management of student files directly to this cloud storage. We will also have access to all of the additional features Google will be adding to Google Meet over the coming weeks including, viewing up to 49 participants at one time, attendance tracking, hand raising, breakout rooms, blurred backgrounds and more teacher controls.

Can I use my own device?

All students (OLA & Hybrid) may use a home computer that runs the Chrome browser while at home. Each student will still be assigned a district Chromebook which they will bring home and charge each night. The benefit of all students using the same device is that there will be consistent access to educational apps. Staff can demonstrate the use of these apps in a consistent manner, rather than trying to teach how to use apps on various devices and browsers. Chromebooks also allow for the ability of the Technology Department to push out updates to all devices and ensure the most up to date Google resources are in use.

Technology Support:

Students having trouble should access support based on their particular situation:
