Dear NAPS Community,

I hope that this message finds you healthy and well. Thank you to those who have completed our reopening surveys. This data has been instrumental in assisting our working groups in preparing for the fall.

We have sent out two surveys for families and we will send a follow-up survey next week. Draft plans for reopening schools will be sent out next week and presented to the School Committee on July 30th and submitted on July 31st to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for initial review.

I want to thank our amazing parent working group representing every school and NAPAC for holding forums with families and producing a document with your insight and feedback.   Additionally,  input from our staff and Summer Institute (Teachers Working Group) continues to provide invaluable contributions and I am excited to meet with them on Monday to review our draft plans.

After the July 31st submission, we will continue to work with stakeholders for input prior to the required August 10th submission to DESE that describes the district's approach for three different possibilities (in-person with safety precautions, hybrid, and remote learning). We are preparing all models as there may be a need to utilize all of them depending upon the situation we face this year.

I have attached these  DESE FAQs as an update for parents/guardians in our community that should be helpful to families. Thank you for your support as we work together to return our students, staff and faculty to school in the safest and most effective manner possible.

Parent survey results and family feedback documents can be viewed on the NA Returns website under the "Document Section":  http://www.northandoverpublicschools.com/fall-2020

Respectfully,

Dr. Gregg T. Gilligan, Superintendent
