Dear North Andover Public Schools Community, We are writing to share that we have confirmed a cluster of positive cases at the high school related to North Andover Youth Hockey. At this time there are 4 confirmed positive cases related to the Youth Hockey Team with more results pending. At the high school, we have 10 additional confirmed positive cases. Currently we have 80 identified close contacts who are required to quarantine with additional contacts pending. In collaboration with the Health Director, Town Manager, and the North Andover Covid-19 Task Force we have made the decision to transition North Andover High School from the Hybrid Model to the Full Remote Model from Monday, December 14th through Wednesday, December 23rd. We will continue to monitor the situation with the expectation that the high school will transition back to the Hybrid Model on Monday, January 4th. High school athletics will not take place while the school is in the Full Remote Model. Therefore, winter athletics will not start until Monday, January 4th. It is unfortunate that we have to go remote at the high school again, as we did back in October. Collectively we agree that this is the most prudent course of action to take given the current situation as the number of positive cases and close contacts continue to rise. As we stated in October, we remain committed to continuing with our in-person hybrid model. We want to reiterate that we are relying on your help, diligence, and cooperation in making this a possibility. Please limit the amount of close contacts you have outside of your household and please stay home if you are sick. This virus is transmitted mostly through indoor, close contact transmission so please protect your loved ones over the upcoming holidays. Principal Jackson will send additional information to high school families this evening. Sincerely, Brian LaGrasse, North Andover Public Health Director Dr. James Mealey, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Melissa Rodrigues, Esq., North Andover Town Manager Resources/Questions The NAPS COVID-19 Information & Planning Page includes links to district guidelines, protocols, and the NAPS Positive COVID-19 Case Process.
