Dear North Andover Community, I want to personally take this opportunity to welcome all of our students and families back to school. Our staff has worked tirelessly all summer preparing for the new school year. I am proud of everyone’s efforts to focus on teaching and learning and supporting all of our students as we open school. I know that this fall will be unlike any other we have experienced. I have spent the last few weeks visiting our schools, checking on the final preparations for the school year and participating in teachers’ professional development. We very much missed the NAHS Marching Band performance this year as our Opening Day ceremonies were, by necessity, held virtually, and that was a clear reminder that this year is going to look different than years past. In addition to the impact of Covid-19 health-wise, financially and academically, we have also recently witnessed civil unrest across America, and the combination of these stressors are impacting many of our families in North Andover. At the same time, many of us have had to adapt to this new normal while taking on new roles and responsibilities in our lives both personally and professionally. Schools and districts across Massachusetts and our country have been preparing for reopening in a way that has never been done before. That is why it is now more important than ever to live by our RAISE values and find the strength to demonstrate compassion and kindness towards each other as we all navigate this new school year together. We appreciate your support, patience, and understanding during this major educational transition. We know that as much as we prepare for learning in a hybrid model, there will be challenges and hurdles to overcome in the coming weeks. Principals will continue to send out pertinent information at each of our schools and will be setting up PTO meetings in the near future. We are grateful for your patience, involvement, and continued support. We will work together in the best interest of all students this school year. I hope you will take a minute to check out the very helpful links listed below. Gregg T. Gilligan Superintendent
Technology Our district technology team has been and will continue to work to address staff and family technology needs. It is important to note that occasionally there may be connectivity issues affecting staff and/or for families, and we want to assure everyone that we will all need to be flexible as issues may arise.
Parent University Our Parent University website contains a number of videos and documents designed to provide parents with some ideas and strategies to support your student(s) in a number of areas including Technology, Health/Safety and Social Emotional Learning to name just a few. We will be adding information to this site as the year continues so please check back periodically for updates. COVID Information The school department is working closely and meeting regularly with the Town of North Andover Health Department to ensure we have the most up-to-date information, guidance, and recommendations from the CDC and Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
