Welcome to Franklin!
The Franklin School is home to approximately 400 students in grades 1-5. At Franklin we strive to create a safe, challenging educational environment that offers meaningful learning experiences designed to engage all students. We recognize and embrace the wonderful diversity of cultures, talents, learning styles and backgrounds that our students bring to us. We celebrate individual differences and set high expectations for all. Our goal is to create a community of learners who treat each other with respect and dignity. We believe we are able to achieve that through the collaborative efforts of a strong partnership between the school, families and the community who all have a shared vision of common values.
Originally constructed on Academy Road in 1799, Franklin Academy was moved to the Parson Barnard house in 1852 prior to it burning down in 1905. Timber from the burnt building was used to construct the Franklin School on Park St., which currently serves as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building. A new Franklin School building was built in 1958 with an expansion built in 1968, which is the building on Cypress Terrace that we have grown to know and love today. Through all of that, it has, and always will, remained the purpose of Franklin Elementary School to help all students learn in a caring, motivating environment that provides opportunities for academic and social growth along with a commitment to excellence. Please explore our website to learn more about what makes the Franklin such a special place to teach and learn!
