Hello Parents, Guardians and Caregivers, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. As you are aware, Governor Baker announced that all Massachusetts schools will remain closed through the end of the school year due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. We will continue remote learning through the end of the school year. Class of 2020 Events Although the announcement was somewhat expected, the news of this extension of the closure was disheartening to me, our staff, the community and especially to our seniors. We are actively discussing ways in which we can celebrate the traditional end of the year events like graduation. I have been working collaboratively with the senior class officers, senior class advisors and senior class Assistant Principal, Scott Young to discuss options for the senior class. Together we developed a survey to gather input directly from the Class of 2020. I’m sending the survey directly to the senior students via their school accounts. The survey is due no later than Tuesday at 12pm. The class officers will be using their multiple social media accounts to prompt seniors to complete the survey as well. It’s extremely important to me to get input from the seniors directly to guide their experiences. My goal is to have a solid plan in place in advance of graduation. The celebrations may look different than the past, but we are working hard to go above and beyond for this senior class. We are still planning on having our Scholarship Knight and Awards Day in some type of virtual/remote setting with the assistance of North Andover CAM. We will do our best to produce a great send-off. I plan on having an update within one week. Class of 2020 Events Subcommittee Formed I’m finalizing a Class of 2020 Events Subcommittee made up of key school personnel, a few student officers, a few parents from our PAC and SOS, a member of the NAPD and a representative from NA CAM to coordinate plans, logistics and implementations of any events. They will also assist in the promotion of the events and coordinating any volunteers that are needed. We know many of you are willing to help. I’ll be in touch with a contact or contacts for any needed assistance once we’ve had our initial meetings. We are planning on having our initial meeting this upcoming week. Spring Athletics We are saddened for our senior athletes, their friends, their families and our coaches on the cancellation of the spring season. Everyone has put in so much work to prepare for their final season. All of our students are missing out a chance to represent themselves, their families and our school. Our Athletic Director, Laura Habacker is communicating with our spring coaches on ways to recognize our seniors and spring teams. We will be in touch with any additional information in the future. We also keep in mind our other co-curricular clubs and activities that may be dealing with adjustments or cancellations of end of the year celebrations. The effects of Covid-19 run deep into our school system. Retrieving Items Related to NAHS The closing of the building for NAHS for the school year brings with it some added challenges. Some of those challenges are:
We are working with the Superintendent’s office to put together a plan to do these things safely and within the social distancing guidelines.
