October 19, 2016 Dear Parents / Guardians: It’s NAHS Homecoming week, and I want to share a few thoughts about our annual festivities and expectations for students. First of all, this is a fun week. We are sporting “red and black” and “Scarlet Knights pride” all week long. Each of our athletic teams has contests this week, and the Homecoming football game is Friday evening. A special thanks goes to our Student Council for organizing daily class competitions that culminate in our pep rally on Friday afternoon in the gym. In order for all our activities to remain safe and respectful, NAHS administration will remind students that all school rules apply as do North Andover Public School’s commitment to “RAISE” and expectations around building respectful community. We have recently used our Advisory block to discuss making healthy choices both in and out of school regarding chemical health and safety. This week’s events may provide parents and guardians an opportunity to have those conversations with your students. Friday 10/21
Saturday 10/22
On Friday night prior to the football game, we are partnering with North Andover Public Schools, NAPS health staff, and the North Andover Police Department to promote healthy choices and drug abuse prevention. NAPD will be present and will provide parents and guardians valuable information regarding prevention. Additionally, the NAPD will be collecting and securing from adults any medications that you would like to remove from your home, since abuse often starts with misuse of medications found in one’s own medicine cabinet. This is part of the annual “National Drug Take Back Day,” which the NAPD has participated in for a number of years. And don’t forget the “Knights on the Run” 5K run, walk, and kids run this Saturday morning at 8:00am at NAHS. More information and registration can be found here. Go Scarlet Knights! Sincerely, Deborah Holman NAHS Interim Principal
