Dear Parents/Guardians:
Greetings from NAHS. We have entered that post-February vacation time of year, and I always find that from now until year’s end tends to fly by. There are so many great activities, performances, creative student initiatives, exchange trips, and exhibitions that come to fruition this second half of the year. It is also a busy time for state and national exams like the MCAS and Advanced Placement exams. To keep you updated, I would like to share a few kudos, reminders, and dates:
Congratulations to all our winter athletes. In particular, congratulations to our state championship boys wrestling team. Our boys basketball won the Merrimack Valley Conference, and we had tournament berths for girls and boys basketball, as well as girls and boys hockey. Cheerleading qualified for their regional competition, and the boys swim team won the Merrimack Valley Conference sportsmanship award. In addition, our winter athletes had many other individual accomplishments.
Keep in mind that spring sports teams start on March 20, and the registration deadline is March 15. Please see the athletics page of the NAHS website to register.
Congratulations to our Robotics Team who qualified for the regional competition.
Bon voyage and good luck to the many students participating in wonderful travel/learning trips in March and April, both global and domestic. These include American history students and teachers to Washington D.C., our DECA business students to the regional competition in Boston, a group of students and Mrs. Morley and Ms. Newman who were invited to a Global Student Conference in Peru, our music students going to the Festival of Gold in Los Angeles, and our German students and Ms. Ruecker on our German exchange trip.
SOS forms - seniors must give these to their Advisory teacher by March 8 in order to attend the post-graduation party. Please see previous email blasts that contain these forms.
9th and 10th Grade Semi-Formal Dance is at DiBurro’s 6:15 - 10:00 p.m. on March 10. Faculty will chaperone this fun night, and parents drop off and pick up their students at DiBurro’s.
March exams: Trimester 2 exams for all students and the 10th grade MCAS exam dates are listed below.
Revised cell phone policy - Over the past months, Student Council has worked with faculty and administrators on clarifying our in-school cell phone policy. The goal was to articulate how NAHS prioritizes face-to-face communication and relationships, and to articulate how and when personal electronics can be used appropriately for learning and communication. The draft policy is almost completed, and we will pilot it in classrooms for trimester three. We will share it with parents soon.
Best,
Deborah Holman
NAHS Interim Principal
