Hello Parents, Guardians, Caregivers and Graduates, As you may recall we had tentatively scheduled two additional large events for late July: Prom & a Celebration of the Graduates. While we were hopeful at the time that conditions may change to allow these two events to be held, we have recently been informed by Danversport Yacht Club that due to Massachusetts COVID-19 Phase III restrictions, they are unable to host the Class of 2020 Prom, so we must cancel the 2020 Prom. Additionally, after consultation with the Town of North Andover’s Public Health Department, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with the proposed celebration of the graduates event tentatively scheduled for July --. As outlined in the Town’s July 9 COVID Update, North Andover has started to see an uptick in active COVID-19 cases and the Board is urging all residents to avoid large crowds and continue to practice social distancing. While it is certainly disappointing to all that these events will not be held, these decisions are not made lightly. We are sure that everyone understands they are made with the best interests of our students and families in mind. We do however, feel that the Class of 2020 deserves one culminating final event to celebrate your achievements. And so, with this in mind, we are determined to still bring you together in smaller, safer groups in accordance with phase three state guidelines and with the support of North Andover’s Public Health Department, for an informal event to receive yearbooks, your guidance folder and your graduation photo, resplendent with music, food and laughter! Please see this link for the detailed latest update on the July events connected to the Class of 2020 and the details/reasoning behind the decisions.
Please be well, Dr. Gregg T. Gilligan Superintendent |
