Dear NAMS families, I hope that this message finds you and your families well. Below you will find important highlights and information about happenings at NAMS. Please be sure to also check us out on Twitter @NAMiddle Please be sure to take a moment this weekend to remember the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our county. MCAS 2019 MCAS at NAMS went extremely well thanks to the efforts of all of you, thank you! I would like to especially thank Mr. Gosselin, Ms. Faucher, Ms. Chute, Mr. Wrigley, Ms. Raimondo, Ms. DiTroia, and all of our staff for all of their time, effort, and energy. Students Not Attending North Andover in the Fall 2019 If a student will not be attending North Andover Public Schools in September of 2019, parents/guardians will need to notify Mrs. Barron as soon as possible by either email or coming into the main office of NAMS. At the end of the school year your student’s records will be forwarded to their new school. Please contact Mrs. Barron with any questions at barronm@northandoverpublicschools.com So, what is your child doing this summer? Check out the summer offerings available for middle school students through Community Programs here. Museum of Science Vaping Presentations in Auditorium NAHS Grade 9 students were able to attend what I have been told was a truly engaging, educational, and amazing vaping presentation at the Museum of Science this past month. When asked if our students could attend, we were hard pressed to find a date that would work for all 3 grades. So, we asked if the presenter could come to us! If you didn't already know, our nurse leader (Cheryl Barczak) and our nurses (Kathleen Pease and Beth Hassaneine) are so awesome that they were able to convince and cajole the presenter to come to NAMS free of charge. We are able to schedule 3 grade level presentations thanks to their efforts: 8:15-8:45 Grade 6 9:00-9:30 Grade 8 9:45-10:15 Grade 7 I plan on sending parents/guardians information about the dangers of vaping/juling and tips on how to talk to your children soon. Two of my favorite quotes are Many hands make light work and It takes a village to raise a child. Working together, we can guide and support our children to make our future great. Remember that we are preparing our children for their future, not our past. Moving-Up Day All of our students will be informed what team they will be on next year on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 and will also be able to meet their teachers on this day. Our grade 5 students will be coming up to NAMS and our grade 8 students will be going up to NAHS as part of this annual tradition. Have you been following NAMS on Twitter? I have been tweeting and retweeting pics and videos of our NAMS students and staff all year. Attention Grade 8 Families - We need your help with Grade 8 End-of-Year Activities To make these end-of-year events possible for our students, we need your help. Field Day - Wednesday, June 12th (Rain Date is Thursday, June 13th) is a day full of fun and organized activities and will be held on fields behind NAMS, and not the Youth Center. Even though the teachers organize the activities, this day would not be possible without lots of parent volunteers! Class Night - Tuesday, June 18th is an evening of fun, food, and music for the students to enjoy with their 8th grade teachers. This event includes parent volunteers (set up and clean up) and food donations. You can help by signing up here or at the following address: http://signup.com/go/ELDUkKC If you have any questions regarding the activities please contact parent volunteers Eleanor Lucarini at erlucarini@gmail.com , Diane Nikolopoulos at santorini1010@comcast.net , or Maria Philbin at nj1822@comcast.net Looking Ahead Memorial Day Weekend Students and Staff Return on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 Tuesday, May 28, 2019 Team 8A (1/2 of the Team) Field Trip to Edward M.
