Principal's Post 10/01/18

Dear NAMS Families,

October finds students becoming more engaged in both coursework and activities that challenge them academically and help develop their social skills. To the staff and parents/guardians who have helped in making this transition a success – I thank you!

Postural Screening

The state of Massachusetts mandates that all students in grades 6 through 8 be screened for scoliosis. Those students who have PE and /or Wellness this semester will be screened next Tuesday, October 2, 2018 and Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  Physician referrals will be made as needed.

Parents and guardians may waive this student screening by submitting a written request to the school nurse.

Geography Night Scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2018

NAMS's 10th Annual Family Geography Night is scheduled for Thursday, October 4th from 6-8 p.m.

    View the inflatable EarthView Globe

Explore the Giant South American Floor Map

    View Cultural Performances

    Make Landform Cookies

    And so much more!

NAMS Book Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3rd through Friday, October 5th

Our NAMS Book Fair will be held in the NAMS Library during the school days on Wednesday, October 3rd through Friday, October 5th and will also be open during Geography Night on the evening of Thursday, October 4th.  Students will have the opportunity to visit the fair during school hours as well as during Geography Night on Thursday, October 4th.

The event brings to our school a wonderful selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books kids want to read. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose books will motivate them to read more! Reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children’s educational performance as they develop a broader vocabulary, increase general knowledge, and develop a better understanding of other cultures.

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”

-Charles W. Elio

If you are willing and able to volunteer your time to help the students check out books, you can sign up for a slot or even two here or at the following address: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0f4fa8ae2daaf94-scholastic
