Good afternoon NAMS families,

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and safe. I feel very fortunate to work in a community that cares so much for our students and one another. We are all adjusting to a changing reality caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all trying to adjust to the new normal.

Teachers have been busy for the last few weeks planning and sharing learning activities with students, participating in their own professional development, and collaborating with one another. We will continue to collaborate and plan for remote learning and I will be providing you with additional information and details once a plan has been finalized.

In the next two days, I’d like for all of our students that have not been checking email, to please check your school email and google classroom accounts. We have not heard back from several students and would love a quick note or message to your teachers to let them know that you are doing okay. We want to make sure that we can get in contact with you via email as our remote learning plan is rolled out. Families, can you please pass this message along to your NAMS student(s)? I will also be emailing students directly.

I’m sending this message to all NAMS families and students via email and an additional 2 messages:

  • The first is a message from our nurses letting you know how much they miss you, care about you, and some reminders. You may find this message at the end of this email.

  • The second message is a link to a recent video of a show on Nickelodeon in which Kristen Bell hosts kids from all over and gets in touch with medical experts to offer some tips on social distancing, ways to keep safe and healthy, and fun activities to enjoy at home! There are many guest appearances from celebrities that our kids know well. You may find the video here or at the following website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAhfsC73JgM

I am continuing to keep all of our NAMS students, staff, and families in my thoughts and wish you well.

Thinking of you all,

Jorge Goncalves

Hi NAMS and NAHS Students!

We wanted to reach out to you all to say hello and check in. We miss seeing you on a daily basis and are thinking about you during this uncertain time. We miss our work friends and colleagues and that makes us think about you...we have witnessed you with your friends and classmates laughing, talking, and supporting one another. We understand what your friends mean to you and recognize how difficult this must be for you to be apart from one another. We know that you thrive when you are among your peers and friends and we want you to know that we feel for you.

The importance of physical social distancing at this time is undeniable. It really is THE most important thing that we can all do to make a positive difference in the outcome of this difficult situation. You may feel like you are doing nothing by just staying home, but please do not lose sight of how important this action is. By following the guidelines of keeping your social circle to your direct family/household members, you are doing your part to fight this pandemic. We want you to know that we are thinking of you and are here for you. If you need to talk to someone, have questions or just feel like saying hello- please feel free to reach out to us.

We can't wait until we are all together again! Until then, stay home, wash your hands frequently, stay positive, and know we are here for you!
